Year 5 had a fantastic day out at Brockholes Visitors Centre. The weather was beautiful and in the morning we all enjoyed the chance to perfect our map reading skills by taking part in an orienteering activity around the site.
After a welcome sit in the shade whilst we were having lunch, we went into the meadow to learn about the different parts of flowers and how seeds are dispersed. We all had to pretend to be squirrels and each hide an acorn in the meadow. Later, after the activities, we had to go back and find our acorn! This was more tricky than you think but it served to illustrate how animals can help with seed dispersal.
The children were fascintated by the range of insects and bugs that there were to see. It was a fabulous day and Year 5 thought that they would recommend this trip to other children.
