Year 3 Yearly Curriculum Overview 2015-16

Reading books

Reading books must be brought into school every day.  This is so that children can read their books during Guided Reading sessions or read with a teacher.

PE kits

Must be complete and in school at all times.  PE will be on Mondays.

Swimming

The first week is a dry week but swimming lessons will begin on Friday 16th September. Girls will need an all in one swimsuit (no bikinis), a swimming hat and a towel.  Boys will need swim shorts (not to be below the knee) with netting and a towel.

Homework

Will be given out on Thursdays.  This will consist of mental maths work and spellings to learn.

Each term topic homework will be sent home based on our current topic.

There is an excellent website which has games to help the children with the spelling of common exception words.  Click on the link to go straight to it!

English

In English this half term we will be concentrating on SPaG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) and creative writing using Talk4Writing. We will be writing Fables and Non-chronological reports.

Our sentence and word work will focus on the sentence building blocks we have been developing in class.  These help us to write more complex and interesting sentences.
