St Francis C of E Primary School

Love Faith. Love People. Love Learning.

Year 1

Welcome To Year 1!

Useful information:-

Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please have PE kits including trainers in school ready for these lessons.

Reading books will be issued shortly. Reading books are changed as soon as children have read them and had their reading record signed at home. This can be as often as daily! Details of your child's specific reading day will be included in their reading record.

Key word reading cards and phonics cards will be included in reading packets later this month for your child to practise. These will be changed as soon as your child can confidently read them.  Practising 'little and often' tends to be the most successful approach to learning these, both at home and at school!

Our Week In Year 1

Mondays - blue group daily readers

Tuesday - green group daily readers; homework hand in; PE

Wednesday - purple group daily readers; PE

Thursday -  red group daily readers; homework given out

Friday - yellow group daily readers

Please could all children have their reading book and record in their bag every day. We have specific days for children to read but we will take extra opportunities to do additional listening when we can!

Although we remind them to check their bags every morning, please make sure that your child knows if there is something in their school bag that needs handing to the teachers (eg letters, money etc).

Please be aware that if there is no maths sheet in your child's homework folder, then a task has been set for them on Mathletics.

Thank you.

Mathletics

All children in Year 1 will soon be given a Mathletics password. Please encourage your child to play on Mathletics. The web-link below will take you to the Mathletics website.

Throughout the year, our class will continue to learn about the changing weather and the seasons. We would love the children to bring in any seasonal objects for our nature shelf!
