Our Year 6 Leadership Group thought it would be a lovely idea to have a Faith Club aimed at the younger children. Their idea is to read a religious story, either from the Bible or from another religion, and do some crafts, games and songs to accompany it.
The Faith Club runs every Thursday lunchtime for 10 Year 1 children. It is entirely run by 6 members of the Year 6 Leadership Group with the help of Mrs Kennedy. Mrs Rushton our Chair of Governors helped the children to set up their bank of resources to start off with.
The Year 6 children choose the story and the activities each week which they deliver. It is very popular with the Year 1 children who enjoy coming. So far they have learned about Jonah and the Whale and also the story of Zaccheaus.
Justice Summer 2015
The justice revealed in the Bible is always seen in the context of love. It includes the call to take responsibility for one another, especially the poor and oppressed, and to see that no-one is excluded from the essentials of life.
This term we will be particularly thinking about justice for the poor around the world and we will learn about special people who have fought for justice in order to help others. We will also reflect on the bible story of Bartimeaus as this story focuses on how easy it is to leave people out without thinking and treat them unfairly.
Our value for the last half term was
What is humility?
Humility can be thought of as being humble.
Jesus was both servant and king. He demonstrated this through His life, death and resurrection. Jesus taught his disciples what it means to be truly humble. Christians believe that they can serve God by demonstrating humility through their attitudes and actions.
Our Ethos group interviewed children across school to find out what they have learned over the last half term in collective worship...
Samuel in Reception said that he learned that, "Jesus wasn't a show off."
Isla in Year 2 has learned that, "It is good to be humble."
A child in Year 4 learned that," God would want us to be humble rather than showing off."
Muhammed in Year 6 learned that, "Jesus was humble and we should all be humble to have a happy life."
